Kaleidoscope Theatre Montreal was
founded in 2011 by actor, director and playwright Trevor Barrette. The company’s
mission is to work with emerging and young professional artists in the Montreal
community to produce visually dynamic theatre focusing on storytelling. The
company is accessible to all, but most importantly, encourages a young adult
audience.
Kaleidoscope Theatre Montreal’s first production, presented in the
summer of 2011, was a post-modern dystopian retelling of Sophocles’ Antigone set in a war-torn Thebes,
featuring a cast of twenty. The following year they created ‘a brave new world’
with their steam-punk version of Shakespeare’s The Tempest. The Canadian premiere of
Jenny Lyn Bader’s None of the Above,
a contemporary two-hander almost-romantic comedy about the things people do for
money, grades and love, is their third production.
